Designed in 1913 by Elmer Grey, the Grand Ballroom spans 7,000 square feet beneath soaring 30-foot coffered ceilings made possible by innovative use of steel trussing. Original stained glass windows, Ionic columns, and grand chandeliers set within a Renaissance Revival framework rich with Arts and Crafts details combine to create a setting that naturally elevates every event. Here, your guests don’t just attend; they experience breathtaking craftsmanship and a sense of history that no modern venue can replicate.

Exclusive Buyouts for Private Events

440 Elm is available for full-venue buyouts, ensuring complete privacy and an unparalleled level of exclusivity. Our space has hosted distinguished galas and private corporate celebrations, earning recognition among Long Beach’s most sought-after luxury venues. As a venue with an entertainment permit, we also have some special programs for community organizations in the performing arts. Please ask for details.

Scalable, Flexible Spaces for Corporate Events of 50 to 1,000 Guests

Our 20,000-square-foot venue holds up to 1100. Our featured space is the Grand Ballroom, which can seat up to 500 for sit-down dinners at rounds or 900 standing/ theater-style. Also included are a 2500 sq ft bonus room (the Parlor), multiple foyers, multiple breakout rooms, and an outdoor plaza. This mix lets you design multi-stage conferences, executive retreats, galas, or product launches with clear flow and privacy.

Whether your event goals leverage culinary to attract people to come, get them to stay, foster the emotional bond of breaking bread, or the dynamic energy of chef-run stations, we craft a program that ties into your overall objectives.

Our culinary design team works closely with you to craft menus tailored to your event’s flow and tone, whether it’s a formal seated dinner, interactive chef stations, passed hors d’oeuvres during networking, or a late-night gourmet snack bar. With state-of-the-art connectivity, flexible AV options, and a wide range of parking options, 440 Elm meets the operational needs of sophisticated multi-part corporate gatherings.

Our renovation included a number of ADA access improvements, which allow guest access to our event spaces.

Operational Excellence & Dedicated Support

We've organized around an industry-leading lean operations approach with a continuous improvement culture, which led us to adopt a no-tipping model. Our experienced event operations team works closely with you from initial planning through execution, maintaining strict attention to timelines, vendor coordination, and technical logistics. We bring detailed timelines and SOPs, a seasoned and professional service and chef team, detailed timelines, drag and drop floor plans, and other tools to ensure that your event vision is translated into a plan that will work and anticipate common issues.

Our venue comes with a house set of tables, chairs, speakers, uplights, wifi, and other elements to give you a starting point in putting together your event and budget. You'll find that the quality of the venue also helps to reduce the costs of covering carpet, etc that you'll find in other places. You'll also find out all-day access approach helpful for more complex set ups or decor.

Bite Catering Couture, our exclusive in-house caterer, brings a turnkey and transparent caterer that can create a custom program across a range of themes and service levels. This leads to custom designs that map floor plan and timelines to staffing ratios, service expectations, menu design, passing ratios, and pacing.
